Looking forward to using my new magicshine light, might be able to see where I'm going this week...
Probably out on this.
We'd better get fit, I think @Raderson will be out next week.
got a funny feeling it will be my turn to be dropped tonight...
Just so everyone knows and in case we have any new riders tonight, the Thursday night session doesn't wait so make sure you know the route beforehand.
Got home, eaten my dinner then a whole pack of ginger nuts went down the hatch so must have worked hard tonight.
Feeling rather sick now...
I've had my BIG breakfast bowl brimful with muesli. I had my dinner b4 the ride. Too much dieting this week, that was my problem. It's nice when there's a problem and it's not my bloody metabolism.
Oh yes, I proposed that we have a think about a route modification. I like the route as far as Spondon, nicely testing. And back to Breaston is fine, but it's a long way from LE home and cos of the traffic and traffic lights we tend to call it a day here and warm down to home. I'd really like 30 miles minimum on the rivet. And since everyone knows a BIG light is de rigueur, we could ride anywhere really. Some suggestions were to head off to Kings Corner after Spondon. Anyhow, so long as we're not diving down any knarly hills, there are lots of opportunities. I'll make my own suggestion that you can all agree to soon :-)
Or could finish via risley (avoiding the idiot car drivers in breaston!) left at the lights to stanton, erewash golf club, moorbridge lane and finishing at bramcote park to make a full loop. Add in an extra little loop down cat / fiddle then via stanley and past Locko Park (is that kings corner?)brings to a total 27.3m. Few more hills may mean more splits.
might have to get in on this action now i've got my spin back....
Here is my suggestion, takes all our ideas. I suggest the hill from Risley down to Sandiacre centre then left to Stanton Gate. This drops lots of height in street light, and just gets the job done, then back on it to Stanton Gate. 33.6 miles almost entirely nads on the rivet :-)
Or these, since although FW way is great, Chaddesden is less so.

g.co/maps/6eubn - the longer option
Riskiest bit is probably coming down from King's Corner past Locko park, fast, dark, zero ice risk option!!
Why don't we take the next exit at Ilkeston rbt head along to west Hallam or further along if you want, then turn left, up the cat and fiddle and either finish as normal or do some Stanton borrowash extension. I reckon sprinting up the cat and fiddle may curtail some people's increasing distance aspirations...
Martin, the winter route is really about long drags, we have a very hilly route that comes into play as soon as it's light enough in the evenings. The 2nd link of mine is essentially what you're suggesting, without the Cat & Fiddle.
Here's me struggling to hang on as far as Nuthall and folk are suggesting an extension! I suppose I ought to actually turn up before having my say.
Turn up and last as far as the extension yes!
Yes! I remembered my login!
