Planning a first century of the year ride on saturday (weather permitting), route will be similar to the 'Flat 80' on Jan 14th (But a bit further into the Vale of Belvoir), one cafe stop at Stonehurst Farm Centre. I'll upload a link to a route tomorrow (ish).

Pace will be similar to the previous two long rides and the 'Brisk Ride' on Sat 21st so an overall average of 25 Km/h (15 mph), which means regularly cruising at 30-33 kph (18-20 mph) on the flat. A start at 8:30 with a 6:15 ride time plus a quick cafe stop int he middle, should see us back around 3:30. After the brisk ride I'd like to make it clear that we'll obviously stop for mechanicals and punctures (and lunch) but we obviously can't slow down too much or it'll get dark at the end. Might be best to bring lights just in case!

Wha-hey!! This will be my first century of the year - count me in.
Sundays ride falls just short.
One thought though - Stonehurst is half way round last weeks route which means it will be well over half way on this ride. How about looping via Dove Cottage for a quick drink stop ?

I suggest anybody who rides this has lights - just in case.

climberruss18:02 Sat 21 Jan

Yes I was going to say lights will be a good idea but totally forgot!! Well reminded Russ.

Provisional route, it's 99.6 miles so as long as nobody lives in Beeston Square it'll be well over 100:

Cafe stop is (provisionally) at 88 Km (out of 160 Km), I think I'd prefer not stopping twice if we can help it, just because it'd invariably add 20 minutes and push us towards a 4pm finish when it would be dark.

jimw18:09 Sat 21 Jan

Ohh...that looks suspiciously like Beacon Hill at around 100km??

climberruss18:17 Sat 21 Jan

I think I've (jus) skirted round Beacon Hill, it's Frenchie's TdL route backwards from the cafe to Belton, should warm us up after the cafe!! But it is a little lumpier than the other week (running out of flat lands!)

jimw18:26 Sat 21 Jan

Hopefully my GPS will have arrived in time so there'll be no more stopping to look at the map!

jimw23:37 Sun 22 Jan

lol- forget the GPS - get a map holder - about £18 !!

climberruss00:28 Mon 23 Jan

Won't be fit enough for that yet, so have suggested a steady 3-hour the same morning.

frenchie11:43 Mon 23 Jan

After being out for 7 hours for two consecutive weekends I may have to go on Frenchie's ride although I would like to get the ton in after 80 and 90

Dear me, as soon as the milage creeps up to three figures everyone starts bailing out :-0

Herve, you'll soon be back up to speed!

jimw13:33 Mon 23 Jan

Welcome to my world

mikew13:34 Mon 23 Jan

It's persuading Beth that's the problem, not me! :-)

will13:36 Mon 23 Jan

Mike your world is a different world to my world! Give us a couple of months and there might be a bit of overlap.......

jimw13:36 Mon 23 Jan

Looks like I'm in!

will21:59 Thu 26 Jan

Good man Will!

See you all in the morning :-)

jimw12:27 Fri 27 Jan

Err, if I'm not there go without me. Probably got too much to do tomorrow to be out for so long so might do Mark's route on Sunday instead.

will20:21 Fri 27 Jan

Lightwieght!! ;-)

climberruss20:28 Fri 27 Jan

Bailing out? * ******** **** ********* ***!

No problem mate, if we don't see you tomorrow we'll catch you the weekend after!

jimw20:51 Fri 27 Jan

Dropping Beth at the airport next Saturday, she's off to Austria for a week with work, so next week is out too :-(

Cracking ride. After last weeks windy epic this felt easy!.
A slight "horological malfunction" meant I missed the start by half an hour so I rode out and met the guys part way round the route and only lost 12 miles. A really enjoyable ride followed and I made up for my short fall by riding out to Trowell at the end and back through Stabbo. Managed to get my first Century of the year in.
Congratulations to Steve Pullan as this was his first ever century ride!

climberruss17:46 Sat 28 Jan

Good ride cheers everyone, the highlight was deffinatly finding Russ coming the other way round a corner in Long Clawson! The middle half was almost warm too.

Well done Steve, 120 in a few weeks?

jimw18:53 Sat 28 Jan

jimw22:49 Sat 28 Jan

Well done Steve on your 1st 100
Meeting Russ coming the other way brings back some fond memories of the challenge ride 2 years ago :-)
It was like a benny hill sketch ;-)
