Sounds good. I need to be back for 1130.

I was just wondering if there was a ride on saturday this morning. I like the sounds of steady lol

thecookie08:29 Tue 24 Jan

Planning to do the TdL. Pace will be the same as last WE's ride.

frenchie08:31 Tue 24 Jan

ah....in which case I'll decline - thanks for saying frenchie

thecookie09:14 Tue 24 Jan

You managed it steady last WE!

frenchie09:22 Tue 24 Jan

Tom, you'll cope with that I'm sure, just eat something half way round! No pain, no gain!

julianbramley09:36 Tue 24 Jan

Yeah but it nearly killed me!

thecookie09:40 Tue 24 Jan

Ahh I can't resist! In a strange way the challange is addictive! Ok, I'll come...with food ;)

thecookie09:42 Tue 24 Jan

Tom - I know the route and would be happy to ride with you if the pace doesn't suit. Its the best way to improve. Getting up for the 8am start is the hardest part for me!

newsonoid09:45 Tue 24 Jan

Cheers newsonoid, appreciate it. 8am has both it's virtues and evils!

thecookie09:54 Tue 24 Jan

Hervé - can you re-post a link to your TdL route?

newsonoid10:20 Tue 24 Jan

There's a TdL route cunningly hidden in the route library, I found it yesterday after an extensive search (part of my saturday 100 route follows it backwards).

Rather than ride up to Argos I'll join the ride as you pass my house on Attenborough Lane at about 8.10am. If its raining like it was this afternoon, I will be staying in bed though!

newsonoid17:09 Fri 27 Jan

I'm doing this tomorrow anyway so I'll be social. :)

If I'm not there at 8, leave without me and I'll meet up at Plank and Leggit. If I'm not there when you are, don't wait. I don't have the best track record when it comes to waking up.

Weather dependant too, of course.

adams17:12 Fri 27 Jan

Looking forward to it.

john17:46 Fri 27 Jan

Risk of ice so take care.

guy18:03 Fri 27 Jan

Guys, I might have to cry off. I have a nasty tooth ache that won't shift. Will see how I feel first thing.

iang19:27 Fri 27 Jan

I will join you as you pass my house in route

newsonoid07:11 Sat 28 Jan

Thanks to everyone who cut it short with me, much appreciated and I owe you all a coffee. Very enjoyable ride none the less. I'll get out on Saturdays more once I've shifted this.

I'm now resting with lucozade and a bottle of something I can't pronounce the name of.

adams11:34 Sat 28 Jan

Very enjoyable ride - what great weather! I loved the route too. Taking food was a huge help...I live...I learn....

Thanks for the setup and gear advice guys, hopefully next time you see me my saddle will be higher and my knees covered!

I'll be posting a link to a strava map of the ride - never done it before, quite interested to see how it works!

thecookie11:43 Sat 28 Jan

Nice one indeed & good to meet a couple of new faces; I spent a lot of time chatting with Martin in particular. I have some good left-overs but I was a bit short towards the end & took the last mile home very easy. 6-7 weeks off have a price...

frenchie12:23 Sat 28 Jan

Good ride guys. We decided to shepherd Adam home and go directly through Loughborough and link back on to the route home. All in all we did 40 miles which was cool.
Glad you your home safe Adam.

Herve, did you get my message letting you know we were peeling off with Adam.

If anyones interseted heres the route :)

thecookie12:56 Sat 28 Jan

Cookie, this seems short & slow. This is more like a 48+ Miler and I reckon we hit 16 Mi/h average.

frenchie13:01 Sat 28 Jan

Sorry, John, No. Did you call or text?

Incidentally Richshen asked me to ask you for you to send me his contact details. It is about trying to meet up about the Islabike he has for sale. I emailed you during the week. Cheers!

frenchie13:03 Sat 28 Jan

I felt that this morning - an early start, a head cold and a bout of asthma - but I did enjoy the ride and the company. My rear crud catcher was rubbing badly too, turned out the wheel wasn't straight. Any more excuses I can throw in?

newsonoid13:12 Sat 28 Jan

@frenchie: Glad you said that - it didn't look right to me either- 11mph average seemed way too low! I don't understand what's happened - I've never used the app before, so it's either my user error or my cheap smartphone.

I'll have to play around with it and work it out.

thecookie13:18 Sat 28 Jan

It looks like the route outline is very sketchy -- few points, so coarse approximation to the route.

frenchie13:20 Sat 28 Jan

ok. I think it's my phone - going too give it a few more tries before I give up on the app.

thecookie14:23 Sat 28 Jan

What happened to Adam? I am guessing you are the over-exuberant youth who shot off up the first hill and looked decidedly less exuberant at the top... Sounds like it was character building anyway...

martins16:45 Sat 28 Jan

Yeah, I am that youth. The next few hills got to me and it felt like a head cold type of thing was getting to me. Didn't want it to turn it into an infection of any kind.

adams17:25 Sat 28 Jan

Hi Herve I did call during the ride! It was cool as we had agreed if we split there was no need to wait?
I will text you Richard Shen's number sorry I forgot.

john18:49 Sat 28 Jan

Thanks John, no problem. I will check my answering machine. My phone seems to behave a but funnily at present (e.g. switching off randomly).
