A downhill start soon gives way to pancake flat along the Soar vale. We then pass through Kegworth before the start of the rolling middle section (just 15 miles) begins with the mildly testing Broad Hill. An easy climb up Rose Hill brings you on to and down the Ashby Road. After turning off through Belton another easy climb and descent take you to the dramatically quarried Breedon-on-the-Hill, or in your case, Breedon below the hill :-) A fantastic lane then brings you to the Staunton and Calke estates and the lumpy section quickly comes to an end just after Ticknall. A long descent to Ingleby and you're back on the Trent vale for a flat return past the ancient monument of Swarkeston Bridge on the right. Elvaston Castle is passed before the local flat chaingang speedway through Draycott brings you to the finish.
